Our meat is sourced from trusted local farmers that we have been dealing with for many generations. Local means less food miles and promises quality and value for all. Our pork comes from Packington Free Range. At Packington they ensure that the animal’s welfare is always put first and strive to ensure that all their pigs are reared naturally using traditional farming methods. The pigs are allowed to spend their lives roaming freely through vast green pastures and wallowing in the mud. This natural method results in 100% natural meat. The pigs are supplied to our precise specifications enabling us to maintain a consistent quality in our pork. Here at Coates’ we have complete confidence that these happy pigs produce the best pork you can buy! For our beef we feel that is essential that the parentage is of Hereford or Aberdeen Angus stock and that they are born and reared on their mother’s milk in the local Trent meadows. This single suckled traditional production again gives the animals a traditional farming environment which not only produces a better quality meat but also helps to enhance and support the countryside. Once the meat is taken from our own modern EEC standard licensed slaughterhouse (located at the back of our Alrewas premises) it is hung in our chill rooms for the required time to ensure it gains tenderness and full flavour. Our beef is hung and air-aged for 21 days. When ready for use the meat is cut and prepared by our team of craftsmen butchers who are all highly skilled in producing all your favourite joints for our shops. All of our homemade products are produced onsite at our Alrewas premises including our cooked meat, bacon and sausage - a favourite being, especially with children, our famous Packington Porker sausages made with to our own secret recipe. There are also over 20 other gourmet flavoured sausages to choose from, usually with at least 12 different varieties available on any one day, we also produce gluten free to order. When making all of our sausages we use the same quality meat as we would for your best Sunday joint and only use natural casings. The sausages are also low in salt which we believe is better for both taste and for you. Due to popularity we make over 1 ½ tonnes of sausage a week! Our Oak smoked bacon is produced in our own smoke house - visitors to our Alrewas shop can tell when it is in use! We produce a wide variety of baked products in our very own cookhouse; these include our famous jellied pork pies, meat pies, sausage rolls and much, much more! |
