Animal Welfare

Coates Butchers are often asked if the meat sold from our shops is religiously slaughtered.

As a traditional fifth generation family butcher, established over 120 years ago, Coates remain one of the last few butchers in the area to maintain our own on site abattoir.

Slaughtering is carried out using long established British methods which prioritise animal welfare, calm handling and expertise developed over generations.
This meat is distributed to our own four shops and sold on via our online shop.
